Teacher: Jane Cooper

In addition to weekly lessons, each year the students in our Jr. High class search the Bible for a "word of the year".  Each student looks through the Bible and writes down words that he/she finds interesting or that stand out for him/her.  After compiling the list, each student chooses one word to focus on for the year.  Some words that have been chosen in the past are:  forgiveness, listen, gladness, wisdom, hope and trust. Each student makes a poster that is displayed in the classroom to remind the class of the words that were chosen. Periodically the words are reviewed to evaluate the impact that the word is having on thier lives.

This class enjoys opening and closing their lessons in ritual.  Every class begins with prayer time and the sharing of joys and concerns. At the end of each lesson, a key Bible verse(s) is recited.  One is: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.  Love your neighbor as you love yourself. - Based on Matthew 22:37-39.   Another is:  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:21.

The students in this class look forward to the tradition of painting a brick in the classroom to represent their faith before moving to the High School class.

High School

Rooms 109 and 111

Teacher: Kevin Gaskill

Our high school class meets in the youth room for a lesson/discussion led by teacher, Kevin Gaskill. Kevin's ministry is a ministry of listening and engaging.  He is gifted at talking to the youth about what is going on in their lives and relating it to their faith.

While your child is in Sunday School, make sure to check out one of our eight adult classes. The classes study a variety of Bible studies and current issues and have a variety of teaching styles. You are sure to find a class that is just right for you.

We periodically offer classes on special topics or issues such as parenting, prayer, world religions. Members are invited to suggest topics of special studies.

Note: Your child's safety is of of the utmost importance to us.  All of our child care providers have had background checks and participated in child protection policy training.  A copy of our child protection policy is available in the literature racks outside the church office.
