Meet The Staff
Rev. Laureen A. Roe was called to serve as Senior Minister at FCC in Zanesville in January 2022. She is a graduate of Wright State University and The Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She comes from southwest Ohio where she was nurtured and raised in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) tradition at Central Christian Church in Kettering, Ohio. For over 20 years, Laureen’s passion for God and church has helped people grow in their own relationships with God and Jesus Christ. Her enthusiasm stems from her personal prayer life, which focuses on caring for the child of God within. Laureen believes that all people are created in the image of God and therefore are children of God. This belief guides all she does in ministry. Whether she is praying with someone in the hospital, leading worship, playing with a child, or holding the hand of someone grieving, Laureen seeks to share God’s unconditional love with the child of God before her. |

John A. Grubbs was born and raised in Winchester, IN. My family was always involved in automotive repair with my Great Grandfather, Great Uncle, Grandfather, & Father all being mechanics. After graduating High School, I attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis, IN. I graduated from Lincoln Tech in 1980 as one of the top graduates. Upon graduating I was offered a position as a welder for the Machinists Union as a class “A” MIG welder which I did for 9 years. During this time, I started my own part-time business in automotive repair specializing in automotive heating & air conditioning. In 1986 Susan and I met on a blind date in Dayton, OH and were married 3 years later. I was then offered a position as an advanced automotive & welding instructor at the Atterbury Job Corps Center where I taught for 3 years. We then moved to Zanesville where I became the Automotive Technology Instructor at The Mid-East Career and Technology Center for 17 years. In 2002 I went back to Lincoln Tech in the summer and obtained my associate degree and graduated as an honor grad. I had to retire early from teaching due to leg issues. I started working here at First Christian in January 2022 temporarily and became permanent in June 2022. Interesting facts: I have 2 adult children (Katie & Sam), I enjoy going to drag races and car shows. I inherited my father’s 1961 Ford Falcon drag car and I still have my first car, a 1968 Ford Torino that is my show car. I also enjoy fishing and being by the ocean. I am a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar, an ASE certified technician and undercar specialist, lifetime member of the National/Ohio Education Association, Nominated to the Lincoln Technical Institute Hall of Fame. |

Kim Paul is the Director of Christian Education and is responsible for coordinating ministry for our youth and children. She is a lifelong member of the church and she and her husband, Larry, feel blessed to have the church family supporting them as they raise their two daughters, Anna and Alaina. Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Bowling Green State University and was a kindergarten, first grade and reading intervention teacher before coming on staff at First Christian Church in 2013. Her favorite moments in the church are baby dedications because she knows that the best gift any parent could ever give their child and themselves is the love and support of this church family. |

Susan Davis serves as the Music Director of First Christian Church. Susan leads our choir, Praise Team and is the pianist for Sunday services. Her favorite moment in her role as Music Director is on Christmas eve, when we are lighting the candles while everyone is singing "Silent Night". She says, "I have the best seat in the sanctuary!" Susan has been delightfully married to Joe Davis for the past 38 years, and they have one fur-baby named Chloe. She loves Stephen King books, working a Sudoku puzzle, playing with the Praise Team, a great glass of wine, and being at home, not necessarily in that order. |

Kaye Bednarczuk is the pianist for Wednesday services. She has been a musician with our church since 2001. Kaye's favorite part of being a musician for the church is when Wednesday services are held at the Oaks at Northpointe, a local senior living community. Kaye received her Bachelor of Music Education from Muskingum College and worked for Maysville Schools and Zanesville City Schools before joining the church staff. Kaye and her husband Bob enjoy spending time with their daughter, Jill. Kaye also enjoys reading, playing music, and crocheting. |
